RESOLUTION NO. 1291
A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING AN ATTENDANCE POLICY FOR BOARDS,
COMMISSIONS, AND COMMITTEES
WHEREAS, citizen participation on various boards, commISSions, and
committees is encouraged to assist the Mayor and Council in governing and
determining the future of the City, and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council deem it necessary to provide rules by which
board, commission, and committee members are expected to abide by when serving
in those appointed positions, NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY OF WOODBURN RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. All board, commission, and committee members are expected to
regularly attend all meetings of such board, commission, or committee.
Section 2. If a member of a board, commission, or committee created by the
Council fails to attend at least 50% of the meetings of that board, commission, or
committee within a calendar quarter, the following procedure shall apply:
A. The Mayor shall inquire to determine the cause of the nonattendance.
B. The Mayor shall ask the chair of the board, commission, or committee
to contact the member and remind the member that commitment to attendance is a
key responsibility of membership and advise the member that improved attendance
will be required.
C. If the member fails to attend at least 50% of the meetings within the
next following calendar quarter, the Mayor shall ask the member to resign.
D. If the member refuses to resign upon request by the Mayor, the Mayor
shall forward a report to the Council and, upon majority vote of the Council, the
position shall be declared vacant.
