High School. Bryer's presentation described
many events and activities including
Congresswoman Darlene Hooley's visit to WHS.
While there, Hooley presented a Congressional
Award to the student body for its collective
work in making the crossing at Highway 214
safer. Bryers also reported that students and
staff members at the high school donated 56
pints of blood to the American Red Cross at its
annual blood drive. Finally, Bryers noted that
the winter sports season was wrapping up with
spring sports beginning next week.
WHS International Baccalaureate and
Leadership Program Coordinator Lynn King
updated the Board on the high school's progress
toward becoming an International
Baccalaureate Program school. A team of IB
representatives will visit the district the week
of April 2 to meet with district administrators,
students, parents and the Board. To prepare for
that visit, King has been coordinating efforts to
educate all staff members and potential
students about the program and its offerings.
Director of Secondary Curriculum and
Instruction Bill Rhoades unveiled the initial
product of the dropout prevention team. The
team has met and worked together for three
days, identifying the most prominent reasons
that Woodburn students drop out and creating
plans to keep those students in school. The
team has set its purpose, beliefs and goals, but
will have to meet again to confirm its proposed
action plans before the program is put into
place.
Program and Student Evaluation Specialist

assessment tests that students in grades three,
five, eight and 10 take on an annual basis. Of
