Urban Renewal Agency minutes of June 23, 2014. McCallum/Cox... adopt the Consent Agenda. The motion passed unanimously. 0:00 RESOLUTION NO. 2014-03 - A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE DOWNTOWN GRANT AND LOAN PROGRAM TO PROVIDE LARGE RENOVATION GRANTS FOR SIGNIFICANT PROJECTS WITHIN THE URBAN RENEWAL DISTRICT AS SPECIFIED HEREIN Economic and Development Director Hendryx provided a staff report. Member Ellsworth stated that she is concerned about giving out such a large amount of grant money and having people fix up their building, sell it and walk away with a profit. Councilor McCallum stated that they do have to match so it is an investment it's just not completely free money. Director Hendryx stated that there is major investment done to the properties in downtown that's a betterment for all the community. Councilor McCallum reminded members that the building does stay and is available for other people to move in on an improved situation. Member Ellsworth stated that she is also concerned about only being able to finance three large grants instead of many smaller grants. Director Hendryx stated that it will be at the discretion of the Agency on how many grants they want to approve. On roll call vote for final passage, the resolution passed 4-1 with Member Ellsworth voting no. Chair Figley declared Resolution 2014-03 duly passed. 0:17 RESOLUTION NO. 2014-04 -A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE DOWNTOWN GRANT AND LOAN PROGRAM PROCEDURES AND REQUIREMENTS Economic and Development Director Hendryx provided a staff report. On roll call vote for final passage, the resolution passed unanimously. Chair Figley declared Resolution 2014-04 duly passed. Member McCallum concurred and stated that the City has ordinances on signs that the City try's to enforce.
