We spent the last year revamping our approach to youth development and taking it to the next level
Meeting essential needs, meeting kids where they are at. Free dental care for our uninsured youth
Once we have met most basic needs, utilize a 360 degree approach, focusing on prevention, intervention and positive youth development.
We do this by impacting youth through the 3 core areas
This last portion allows us to make a lasting imact on our youth and

DFI Programs
Carpentry Club runs bi-weekly
Began with benches (Basic carpentry, safety, learning names of tools and materials, learning how to follow a plan)
Moved on to skateboards, learning to make a mold and shape wood
Currently building a hoover craft, which incorporates physics

Physics Club:
Kenny, SSH teacher does weekly experiments to give youth a better understanding of how things work and why
Have moved on to advanced physics material covered in college introductory courses

YouTube Tuesday: pick videos that revolve around issues pertinent to them (race, gender, bullying). Once a month they sit in on an AES College course
SMART Girls: Facilitated through our partnership with GAP. Focused on boosting Girls self-esteem. We’ve done this through our “Selfie”
project
Teen Cuisine: Teens entering a cook off
Coming Soon: Developing a permit club with Deb Wolfer, looking to sponsor one teen annually to participate in driver’s ed
Aviation Club: Our youth will learn about aviation and have an opportunity to go up one-on-one with a pilot in June
Launching T3 this summer: Teens receive job skill/workforce training through Club program and pending their successful
completion of training, are provided with apprenticeships.
