Res 2076 - Wyffel's Park Grant ApplicationCOUNCIL BILL NO. 3002 RESOLUTION NO. 2076 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR A GREAT URBAN PARKS CAMPAIGN GRANT FROM THE NATIONAL PARKS AND RECREATION ASSOCIATION FOR THE INSTALLATION OF WYFFEL'S PARK TRAIL AT WYFFEL'S PARK WHEREAS, the National Park and Recreation Department is accepting applications for the Great Urban Parks Campaign Grant Program; and WHEREAS, the Department of Community Services desires to participate in this grant program to the greatest extent possible as a means of providing needed parks and recreation improvements and enhancements; and WHEREAS, the proposed project meets the City's identified need for further developing the Mill Creek Greenway by adding additional trails; and WHEREAS, the Recreation and Park Board and staff have identified developing additional phases of the Mill Creek Greenway as a need in Woodburn; and WHEREAS, the City of Woodburn's 2009 Parks and Recreation Masfer Plan and the Mill Creek Greenway Master Plan recommend developing additional phases of the Greenway Trail; and WHEREAS, City residents will benefit from the development of the trail at Wyffel's Park for recreation, fish, wildlife, storm water management, non - motorized transportation, education and open space; and WHEREAS, the City of Woodburn will provide adequate funding for on- going operations and maintenance of this facility should grant funds be awarded; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF WOODBURN RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the City of Woodburn's Community Services Department is authorized to apply for a Great Urban Parks Campaign Grant from the National Parks and Recreation Association for the Wyffel's Park Trail project as more fully described above.
