Res 2075 - Application for Grant for splash pad at Centennial ParkCOUNCIL BILL NO. 2999 RESOLUTION NO. 2075 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR A LOCAL GOVERNMENT GRANT FROM THE OREGON PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT FOR THE INSTALLATION OF A SPLASH PAD AT CENTENNIAL PARK WHEREAS, the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department is accepting applications for the Local Government Grant Program; and WHEREAS, the Department of Community Services desires to participate in this grant program to the greatest extent possible as a means of providing needed parks and recreation improvements and enhancements; and WHEREAS, the proposed project meets the City's identified need for further developing Centennial Park by adding additional amenities; and WHEREAS, the Recreation and Park Board and staff have identified the installation of a Splash Pad as a priority need in Woodburn; and WHEREAS, the City of Woodburn's 2009 Parks and Recreation Master Plan recommends installing a Splash Pad at Centennial Park; and WHEREAS, City residents willbenefit from the installation of a Splash Pad at Centennial Park and have expressed it as high priorify through a community survey; and WHEREAS, the City of Woodburn will provide adequate funding for on- going operations and maintenance of this facility should grant funds be awarded; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF WOODBURN RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the City of Woodburn's Community Services Department is authorized to apply for a Local Government Grant from the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department for the Centennial Park Splash Pad project as more fully described above. Section 2. That the City certifies that the required 40 percent "matching share" for this grant application is available through in-kind labor, system development charges and donations should this grant be obtained. Section 3. That the Recreation Services Manager is authorized to submit Page 1 -- COUNCIL BILL NO. 2999 RESOLUTION NO. 2075 said grant application on behalf of the City.
