RESOLUTION NO. 2058
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR A LOCAL GOVERNMENT GRANT
FROM THE OREGON PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT FOR THE REHABILITATION
OF THE PLAYGROUND AT CENTENNIAL PARK
WHEREAS, the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department is accepting
applications for the Local Government Grant Program; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Community Services desires to participate in
this grant program to the greatest extent possible as a means of providing
needed parks and recreation improvements and enhancements; and
WHEREAS, the proposed project meets the City's identified need for
rehabilitating the Centennial Park Playground by removing the existing, obsolete
playground equipment; and
WHEREAS, the Recreation and Park Board and staff have identified
improvements to the Centennial Park playground as a high priority need in
Woodburn; and
WHEREAS, the City of Woodburn's 2009 Parks and Recreation Master Plan
recommends replacing the playground at Centennial Park; and
WHEREAS, City residents will benefit from the replacement of the existing
playground at Centennial Park; and
WHEREAS, the City of Woodburn has available local funding to fulfill its
share of the obligation related to this grant application should the grant funds
be awarded; and
WHEREAS, the City of Woodburn will provide adequate funding for on-
going operations and maintenance of this facility should grant funds be
awarded; NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY OF WOODBURN RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the City of Woodburn's Community Services Department is
authorized to apply for a Local Government Grant from the Oregon Parks and
Recreation Department for the Centennial Park Playground Rehabilitation
project as more fully described above.

Section 2. That the Recreation Services Manager is authorized to submit
said grant application on behalf of the City.
