Ord 1601COUNCIL BILL N0. 421 ORDINANCE N0. 1601 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE N0. 1598 BY CHANGING THE DATE AND TIME FOR AN ELECTION TO VOTE ON THE ISSUANCE OF $375,000.00 CITY OF WOODBURN WATER WELL BONDS, AND DECLARING AN E~~ERGENCY. WHEREAS, Ordinance of the voters of the City of a $375,000.00 bond issue for ment concerned therewith to time as the regular biannual Oregon; and no. 1598 provided for the election Woodburn on the question of authorizing two water wells and necessary equip- be held on May 23, 197$, at the same primary election of the State of WHEREAS, it is not possible to schedule the municipal election at the same time as the biannual primary election on May 23, 1978, in and for the reason that the Charter of the City of Woodburn provides that at least 70 days must elapse between the time that the Charter amendment is proposed and the time of such election, and that there is not sufficient time to comply with that requirement and, therefore, a new date need be set for such election; now therefore THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF WOODBURN DO ORDAIN: Section 1. That Section 2 of Ordinance no. 1598 of the City of Woodburn be, and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 2. That the proposed amendment to the Charter of the City of Woodburn, Marion County, Oregon, shall be submitted to the legal electors of said City at a special municipal election which shall be held on the 27th day of June, 1978, in the City of Woodburn in accordance with the Charter and Ordinances of said City. Polls shall be open between the hours of Page 1 - COUNCIL BILL N0. 421 ORDINANCE N0. 1601 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on said date and the election shall be held in the regular polling places for the general and primary elections in each ward. The Recorder is authorized and directed to appoint such Election Boards, Counting Board and such other clerks and officials as required for the proper conduct of said election. Section 2. Section 3 of Ordinance no. 1598 of the City of Woodburn be, and the same is hereby amended by changing the date of the special municipal election described therein from May 23, 1978, to June 27, 1978. Section 3. This ordinance being necessary for the im- mediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is declared to exist, and this ordinance shall take effect upon its passage by the Council and approval by the Mayor. w - - .
