Provides assistance, training, technical assistance to communities who want to revitalize their downtowns 2. Follows National Main Street approach — goal is to build livable, high - quality communities that grow Oregon's economy 3. 2200 cities nationwide... several dozen are in Oregon (Albany is an example) Oregon Main Street Background uilt upon — Organization — represented by full spectrum (business, property owners, banks, local government, chamber) — Promotion — create excitement downtown through activities — street festivals, retail events, marketing to shoppers, investors, & visitors — Design — overall clean -up, attractive buildings, recognizing historic design, creating a quality place to shop and live Economic restructuring — recruiting new businesses, converting unused spaces into used spaces Follows the goals of the DDP — lots of work already done • March 2010 —City Council authorized evaluating (exploring) " the Main Street Program for Woodburn's downtown area.
