Whereas, Mary Tennant began her service to the City of Woodburn in
1973, and
Whereas, Mary served the City in many valuable capacities from that
time until her appointment as City Recorder on July 1, 1991, and
Whereas, Mary has expressed her dedication to her profession through
countless hours of work and constant efforts to improve her knowledge and the
function of her organization, and
Whereas, Mary has also spent countless hours in the service of her
community, even when confronted with the challenges of raising a family and
with personal tragedy, and
Whereas, Mary's professionalism and community service ethic will be
permanently recognized through the Mary Tennant Award, of which she will be
the first recipient, and
Whereas, Mary recently retired from her position as City Recorder and
will be honored on December 30, 2009,
Now therefore, I, Kathy Figley, Mayor of the City of Woodburn, proclaim
December 30, 2009, to be MARY TENNANT DAY. I encourage Woodburn's
citizens to thank Mary for her service and example and to wish her well in the
future chapters of her life.

CHARLIE BLEVINS DAY
December 15, 2009
Whereas, Captain Charlie Blevins joined the Woodburn Police
Department on May 10, 2005, after a distinguished career with other police
agencies, and
Whereas, Captain Blevins' high personal and professional standards make
him an example and an asset to police department staff, and
Whereas, Captain Blevins' genial disposition makes him a delight to
(almost) everyone in the community who has had the pleasure of knowing him,
and
Whereas, Captain Blevins' personal character and professional expertise
were put to the ultimate test on December 12, 2008, when tragedy led to his
emergency appointment as Acting Chief of Police, and
Whereas, Captain Blevins accepted this challenge with courage and
commitment and handled it ably, and
Whereas, Captain Blevins is retiring from the Woodburn Police
Department as of December 31, 2009, and deserves a warm and appreciative
farewell from the community he has served so well,
Now therefore, I, I~athy Figley, Mayor of the City of Woodburn, proclaim
December 15, 2009, CHARLIE BLEVINS DAY. I encourage Woodburn's citizens
to join with me in thanking Charlie for his outstanding service to our
community and in wishing him a bright and happy future.
